PATRICK LENCIONI

Patrick Lencioni is the author of five best-selling books, including The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, which has sold more than a million copies during the past five years. He has been described by the One-Minute Manager, Ken Blanchard, as "fast defining the next generation of business thinkers." In addition to writing, Pat is the president of The Table Group, a consulting firm that works with CEOs and their teams to improve organizational effectiveness.

Patrick Lencioni's passion for organizations and teams is reflected in his writing, speaking and consulting. His book The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, continues to be highlighted on The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, and USA Today best-seller lists. His other successes include Death by Meeting, The Four Obsessions of an Extraordinary Executive, The Five Temptations of a CEO, Silos, Politics, and Turf Wars, and most recently, The Three Signs of a Miserable Job, released in August, 2007.

When Pat is not writing or consulting, he speaks to thousands of leaders each year at world class organizations. Clients who have engaged his services include Southwest Airlines, New York Life, Microsoft, the 82nd Airborne Division, Charles Schwab, Genentech, Staples, Cisco Systems, the U.S. Military Academy, West Point and FedEx, to name a few.

Prior to founding his firm, Pat worked for Sybase, Oracle and Bain & Company. He also served on the National Board of Directors for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America from 2000-2003.

At ADVANCE, Pat will be explaining to us The Three Signs of a Miserable Job — showing managers how to let employees know how important they are in day to day operations — and why that is important to any organization.

Pat says, "Companies have to be smart -- and don't let anyone tell you this isn't critical. But they also have to be healthy: minimized politics; maximum amounts of morale and productivity and retention of great people."
